Ketone Test Strips for Low Carb Diets
Whenever I follow a low carb diet, and these days I find a low carbohydrate and high-fat diet suits me best, I love to make sure that I am in ketosis. One of the easiest ways of checking that my body is making ketones and therefore burning fat, this is to test my urine.
How to Use Ketone Test Strips
Using your ketone sticks couldn’t be easier. Take the stick out of the packet before your want to urinate. Sit on or stand by the toilet and pee placing the strip directly in the stream of pee. Look at the strip and a few seconds later it will change color if you are in ketosis. You then compare the color of the strip http://premier-pharmacy.com/product/levitra/ against the color codes on the side of the test strip container. If the color has not changed then you might need to wait, a day or two more on a low car diet, or alternatively, decrease your daily carbohydrates to under 20g per day. To dispose, please don’t flush down the toilet as these are plastic and will eventually end up in the food chain. I don’t want to be responsible for killing marine life.
Are Ketone Strips Accurate?
It depends how accurate you need to test your ketones. If you are losing weight and the strips and turning pink then everything is OK. If you are very sensitive to the amount of carbohydrate in your diet and even on a diet with 20g of carbohydrates a day you are not losing weight you may need to consider checking your blood ketone levels.
High levels of protein in your diet may prevent ketosis.
