Since I wrote the following article in 2011 so much has happened to poor Nigella. She has been dragged through the courts as she had accused her assistance of stealing money. Her using cocaine was discussed.
Also, a picture her with her husband’s (Charles Saatchi) hands around her neck, was published they divorced not long afterwards.
Did you know that Nigella Lawson’s husband Charles Saatchi lost a lot of weight in 2008. Can you believe that any man who lives with the self-styled domestic goddess could do this? My hat really has to go off to Charles Saatchi for this feat of willpower.
Charles decided he needed to do something about his weight, as he had piled the weight on over the years, not apparently by eating Nigella’s delicious food instead by eating a wide variety of junk foods, his particular favorites were Shredded Wheat and Weetabix cereals with Ice cream biscuits and chocolate bars.
So one day he decided enough was enough and he embarked on what can only be considered an extreme egg only diet. Quite literally eggs for breakfast lunch and dinner for about 10 months. By following this diet it is reported that he lost 25kg rapidly and more amazingly he has managed to keep this weight off.
How Charles Saatchi was able to lose this weight whilst his wife, a self-confessed food addict, was concocting delicious meals around him it’s just incredible. I personally really can’t imagine I could only eat eggs with all this temptation around me.
This lead to thinking that just eating eggs would put your body into ketosis which in turn would inhibit you appetite greatly. This could be the reason for his steely and iron willpower. I’m not sure that I could tolerate a diet of just eggs and I’m really not sure how healthy this would be “constipation” would be a worry for me, so I don’t think I will follow his diet any time soon.
It is also quite interesting that another man close to Nigella is well known for losing considerable amounts of weight. Lord Lawson is Nigella’s father, and ex. Chancellor of the Exchequer during Margaret Thatcher’s government. He lost about 32 kg by following his own diet where he cut out alcohol, sugar and dairy products. He even wrote a book about his diet, called The Nigel Lawson Diet Book which was a great success in the UK.
Actually, I saw Nigella on a programme a few years ago where she said that when she wanted to lose weight she went low carbohydrate, sort of Atkins I imagine.
